As part of a new partnership, Manchester City Launch Football Development Program coaches will deliver two elite football programmes each year in Samcheok, aimed at offering young local players top-tier coaching experiences rooted in the Club’s world-renowned football philosophy. Alongside player development, Manchester City Football Schools will also focus on educating and upskilling local coaches, enhancing the overall quality of football training throughout the region.
Samcheok, situated in the southernmost area of Gangwon Province, is known for its dedication to sports, culture, and tourism. Through this collaboration with Manchester City Football Schools, the city hopes to expand its sports offerings, draw more families and tourists, and nurture a new generation of football talent within the local community and beyond.
These short-term programmes will introduce aspiring footballers to Manchester City Launch Football Development Program training approach, emphasizing skill enhancement, tactical understanding, and personal development. At the same time, the coach development initiative will empower local trainers with the expertise needed to continue nurturing talent year-round, ensuring long-lasting benefits for Samcheok’s football landscape.
As a special part of the initiative, a select number of young players from Samcheok will be given the chance to travel to Manchester each year, where they will experience professional-level training with Manchester City—offering them valuable insight into life at one of the world’s top football clubs.
This partnership marks the beginning of what both parties envision as a long-term collaboration focused on building a strong foundation for football development in the region.
Jorgina Busquets, Managing Director of Football Education, Recreation & Partner Clubs at City Football Group, shared her thoughts: “We’re delighted to partner with Samcheok City on this meaningful project. This structured training programme, in partnership with one of the world’s top clubs, will help position Samcheok as a premier year-round sports hub on Korea’s east coast and a globally recognized destination for sports tourism.
