After being traded this summer in a high-profile deal, Jalen Green has expressed his appreciation for his time with the Houston Rockets while looking forward to his future with the Phoenix Suns. In a farewell message shared via The Players’ Tribune, Green addressed the city of Houston and its fans—leaving both gratitude and a bit of playful fire behind.
“Houston, thank you for everything!!!! When I drop 30 on y’all next season, just remember the good memories 😂,” Green posted on social media Wednesday, blending appreciation with humor.
Green wrapped up his fourth NBA season with the Rockets averaging 21 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He started every regular-season game—marking the second consecutive year he played all 82—and was instrumental in helping Houston achieve a 50-32 record, securing the second seed in the Western Conference.
Now in Phoenix, Green is expected to join forces with Devin Booker in the backcourt, with Booker taking over point guard duties. The Suns’ lineup has undergone a significant makeover, especially following the trade of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal’s signing with the Clippers.
“Nobody likes being put on the trade block. But I understand it’s part of the game,” Green wrote. “If I was making the decisions, I probably would’ve made the move too. It’s a good outcome for both sides. I’m excited to run with Book and bring that winning energy we started in Houston to Phoenix.”
Green also took the opportunity to respond to critics.
“This is my chance to silence the petty haters,” he said. “I’m thankful to be part of a team that embraces who I am and what I bring to the table.”
His comments hint at a strained dynamic with the Rockets’ front office. Earlier in the summer, Green admitted he saw the trade coming.
“I kind of felt it coming. They’ve been shopping me since last year,” he told The Houston Chronicle. “At the end of the day, it’s a business. I can’t control how I feel. I just keep playing the game I love.”
Despite the complicated exit, Green gave props to the city of Houston, praising its food, culture, and people.
“It’s one of the most slept-on cities in the country,” he said.
