With two goals each from Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Fermín López, Barcelona crushed Valencia 6-0 on Sunday in the Spanish league.

The game was played at Barcelona’s training ground because the team still doesn’t have the proper permits to reopen the renovated Camp Nou stadium.

The defending champions won even without young star Lamine Yamal, who was dealing with an injury after playing two games for Spain in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

This was Barcelona’s third win in four league games, putting them two points behind leaders Real Madrid, who beat Real Sociedad 2-1 on Saturday.

Coach Hansi Flick was happy with the performance: “We played with intensity and as a team. The starting players did great and the substitutes raised the level too.”

Barcelona’s first home league game of the season was played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, which holds 6,000 fans. Normally, this stadium is used by the women’s team and youth squads. The team had played at the Olympic Stadium for the past two seasons while Camp Nou was under renovation. Once finished, Camp Nou will seat nearly 100,000 people.

Total control
Barcelona dominated from the start. López scored in the 29th and 56th minutes, Raphinha in the 53rd and 66th, and Lewandowski in the 76th and 86th.

Both Raphinha and Lewandowski came off the bench to score. Spanish reports said Raphinha may not have started because he arrived late to the pre-game session, but Flick explained it was a technical decision since Raphinha had just returned from international duty with Brazil.

Lewandowski, playing his 150th match for Barcelona, scored his first league goals of the season.

“We controlled the game from the beginning. We knew what to do to win,” said midfielder Marc Casadó.

Valencia, who are near the bottom of the standings with two losses, barely threatened and managed only one shot on target. In the last three matches between the teams, Barcelona has outscored Valencia 18-1.

Other results

  • Real Betis came back to draw 2-2 with Levante, who had taken a two-goal lead in the first 10 minutes.

  • Osasuna earned their second win by beating Rayo Vallecano 2-0 at home.

  • Celta Vigo drew 1-1 with Girona after Borja Iglesias scored a stoppage-time penalty.
