The Cavaliers maintained their scorching hot streak with another dominating win, becoming only the second team in NBA history to win 14 games in a row and score 110 or more points in each of those games. The other team to do this was the Boston Celtics, who would go on to capture the championship in the 1985-86 season.
Max Suttles was instrumental in Cleveland’s win, scoring 17 points and pulling down nine rebounds. His accurate shooting from outside the arc kept the team in offensive rhythm throughout the game. All five Cavaliers starters scored double-digit points, with Donovan Mitchell chipping in 15, while Darius Garland and Evan Mobley each scored 13.
In spite of a heroic 30-point, nine-rebound effort by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee lost its second game in as many nights. Cleveland jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it, taking an 9-8 lead in the first minutes to build a 62-52 halftime lead. A decisive 13-0 fourth-quarter run put the Cavaliers in firm command, taking a 102-84 lead with only four minutes left.
The Oklahoma City Thunder thrashed the Denver Nuggets to continue their winning streak.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, maintained their excellent form as they defeated the Denver Nuggets 127-103. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander performed majestically and scored 40 points, also pulling eight rebounds, one more than MVP Nikola Jokić, in the Superstars’ showpiece.
Oklahoma City’s win extended their advantage in the Western Conference standings, creating a 12-game margin between them and Denver and the Los Angeles Lakers. Jaylen Williams was also instrumental, finishing with 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Isaiah Hartenstein asserted himself in the paint, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to help hold Jokic in check. Jokic was limited to only nine second-half points despite his best efforts.
Denver hung on by up to 10 points in the beginning, but the Thunder rallied with eight in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Jamal Murray put the Nuggets three points from Oklahoma City, but the Thunder controlled the fourth quarter, making an unbelievable 74% from the field and outscoring Denver by a good margin.
Clippers edge Kings in overtime thriller
In another thrilling game, the Los Angeles Clippers outdistanced the Sacramento Kings in a thrilling 111-110 overtime win with Kawhi Leonard’s game-winning buzzer-beater. Leonard struggled for much of the game but came through when it counted most, making the game-winner as the clock ran out.
James Harden led the way for the Clippers with 29 points and 11 assists. Ivica Zubac contributed a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds to complement the team’s victory with an inside game. Despite head coach Tyronn Love’s absence because of back pain, the Clippers demonstrated grit by overcoming a late deficit and securing their third consecutive victory.
Meanwhile, on the other end, DeMar DeRozan topped all Sacramento scorers with 31 points and 10 assists, to which Zach LaVine contributed 30. Even with the good showing of the Kings, they were not able to arrest the Clippers’ late-game momentum. Harden’s game-tying floater sent the match into overtime, where the two teams exchanged turns at the top before Leonard made the winning shot with his buzzer-beating jumper.
