Rami Slams Barcelona Teen Star Former Valencia and Sevilla defender Adil Rami has launched a blistering critique of Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal, harshly stating the young forward can “go to hell” over his off-pitch conduct.
Yamal has been in the spotlight all summer. He recently signed a new six-year contract with Barcelona and has been surrounded by controversy, including rumors of a relationship with an OnlyFans model significantly older than him and a flashy 18th birthday celebration that drew criticism for hiring dwarves as entertainment.
While his footballing ability has been praised, it’s his actions off the field that have angered Rami, a member of France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad.
A Talent on the Pitch, Controversy Off It
Taking to social media, Rami didn’t hold back:
“I’ve had enough of seeing his face for two months straight. I couldn’t care less if the Camp Nou crowd boos or cheers him — I’m just telling it like it is,” he said.
“On the pitch, he’s incredible. He’ll win Ballon d’Ors, Champions Leagues — you name it. But off the pitch? Screw him.”
Rami’s frustration reportedly began after Yamal appeared to dismissively shake Cristiano Ronaldo’s hand following the Nations League final between Spain and Portugal. Many saw it as a sign of disrespect toward the football legend.
“I didn’t like the way he greeted Cristiano. That’s when it all started for me,” Rami explained. “Now he’s throwing wild parties, showing off his bling, wearing the number 10 shirt like he owns the place. He’s acting like he’s in Hollywood, not Barcelona.”
Yamal Unfazed by Backlash
Despite the wave of criticism, Yamal remains unbothered. Addressing the backlash last week, he said:
“At the end of the day, I work for Barça and I play for Barça. But once I leave the training ground, I live my life how I want. That’s it.”
Yamal’s lucrative new contract — reportedly worth £325,000 per week — makes him the highest-earning teenager in football today, underlining his value to the Catalan giants.
He burst onto the international stage during Euro 2024, helping Spain lift the trophy with standout performances. Back at Barcelona, he continued his rise, becoming one of the club’s most dependable players during their domestic double-winning campaign.
