Kamran Akmal delivered a vintage performance, smashing a brilliant century to lead Pakistan Champions to a commanding 49-run victory over West Indies Champions in their World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match at Headingley on Saturday.
Electing to bat first, Pakistan Champions posted a daunting total of 200/4, powered by Akmal’s explosive 113 off 62 deliveries. His innings featured 13 boundaries and five sixes and formed the backbone of the batting lineup after a fiery 65-run partnership with Sharjeel Khan, who scored 21 from just 14 balls.
Contributions from Sohaib Maqsood (17) and captain Mohammad Hafeez (23 off 18) kept the momentum going, while Asif Ali remained not out on 10 off 10 balls at the end.
In response, the West Indies Champions faltered in their chase, ending on 151/7 after 20 overs. Chadwick Walton led their scoring with a quickfire 42 from 30 balls, while William Perkins and Dwayne Bravo added 30 runs each. Ashley Nurse chipped in with a 25-run cameo, but the required run rate proved too steep.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Rumman Raees, who delivered a fiery opening spell, taking 3 wickets for just 4 runs in three overs. Aamer Yamin and Sohail Tanvir also played key roles, picking up two wickets each to restrict the opposition.
With this dominant win, Pakistan Champions climbed to the top of the WCL 2025 standings with seven points from four matches. West Indies Champions remain on two points from two games.
